3 Ways Martial Arts Movies Lie About Self Defense

There's something compelling about martial arts movies. Learning self defense fast is not something that can be done by watching those movies. Yes, they are based in realism, and some martial artists are in those movies and can showcase amazing skill. However, if you are going to defend yourself, you cannot rely on the movements that people like Jackie Chan are pulling through. Yes, you could emulate them in a way, but you should know that there are 3 major ways martial arts movies lie about self defense today.

The Dance of Martial Arts Movies

The biggest thing that you need to know about the fights that you see in movies is that they are scripted. Yes, when you try to learn self defense fast, you are not going to be taught how to dance, you're going to learn how to defend yourself against action. Now, in the movies, there are two or more people that rehearse the movements together, then literally make them go forward for the camera. They practice, they are choreographed, and are scripted to do everything, including reactions. Everything is timed perfectly, and in real life, those things are not going to occur to you, as in a real fight, there's unpredictable situations that you are going to have to deal with.

Chaos Reigns in Fights

The next thing that you should know is that chaos reigns in the real world. In movies, the most chaotic of fight scenes are well placed and interesting to watch. The hero of the movie is calm, collected, and knows what to do next, even if they are like Jackie Chan. He has a comedic element to what he does, but in reality, there's a precision to the art that he pushes. When you look at the process to learn self defense fast, you are going to find that chaos is not something that comes often. In the learning process, you are not going to be thrown into a music driven, fight sequence. That's just not the case.

Entertainment Factors

When you are learning self defense fast, you are not going to be learning for the entertainment of others. People in the martial arts movie world, are doing their craft for the purpose of entertaining others on screen. They are not really fighting one another for the purpose of self defense at all. When you are in the middle of a real life situation, you are not worried about entertaining anyone, you are dealing with a real world defense option.

At the end of the day, you are going to find that movies and television are a poor example of fighting in the real world. Even street fights are not like you see on film, and that's ok, you can learn real self defense fast, from other resources.

The following are options that can help you learn how to fight today. These are recommended by me, and help in a variety of ways.

Combat Fighter Full Review – Does It Work In 2020? YES!

A couple of years ago I reviewed Combat Fighter for 2018 (here). I went into length about what it is, what you get, and how it works. Some people jumped on board and picked it up, while others were skeptical. Well, I decided that today was a good day to revisit it, and really look into the idea of whether or not Combat fighter is a unique self defense program, and is worth your time. I for one already have my opinion, but it’s 2020 now, and this deserves another look. Take time with me to look into whether or not this is a good option for your self defense learning at any pace, age, or lifestyle. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, I think that Combat fighter is a unique self defense program, and offers a lot for just about anyone that is looking to learn to fight in any situation.

What Is Combat Fighter?

The first thing that you’re going to find out about Combat Fighter is the fact that it is not just “one” thing. It’s something that requires you to purchase the item online, as it is a digital program. It’s a fully realized program that is focused on teaching you how to street fight. Not for the purpose of fighting everyone and anyone, but rather it’s to help you learn how to protect yourself and others when you need it most. I think that Combat fighter is a unique self defense program, because it has a lot to offer.

The initial offering is simple enough, a PDF with all that you need to know about Combat Fighter, and how to use the methods correctly. There are full explanations, scenarios, and different theories about how to use what you have on you at any given time to defend yourself. If your goal is to learn self defense fast, then you’re going to love how unique the program is in how it is layered out. Combat Fighter is not just a one trick pony, mind you, it gets even better.

Aside from the program that you get, you’ll find that you can get into the action with videos that describe all of the movements, and help you understand how you will need to use the items that are taught, for your advantage. This is a special element, because you will find that the book is interesting enough, but the videos set you up for success.

I know, I know, it’s easy for me to say that Combat fighter is a unique self defense program, but it really is. The more you get to seeing what is offered, the more information you will be able to get from the program and understand that the skill set to defend yourself is not relegated to only learning kung fu or the standard martial arts.

You will not just get the videos and the PDF, you will also be able to check out a members only area that will help you connect with others that are learning how to defend themselves with the help of Combat Fighter. That’s one of the major reasons why I keep saying that Combat fighter is a unique self defense program, because you get to talk to others that are dealing with the same thing you are. Whether you’re new to this, or you’re someone that has a little bit of skill, you will be able to talk to others about Combat Fighter, and understand any issues that may arise.

Simply put, when you purchase Combat Fighter, you are getting a full program, videos on how to defend yourself, and a members area for those that have purchased the option overall. You are going to get a full classroom full of options, and it’s going to give you peace of mind whenever you may be called upon to use your fists, body, and anything around you to ensure that you’re defending yourself and others.

Bonuses For Those That Purchase Combat Fighter Today (2020 Edition)

I can easily keep chiming on the notion that, Combat fighter is a unique self defense program, but I don’t want to beat a dead horse. Instead, I want to let you know that this program comes with more than just the initial Combat Fighter pdf, and videos. You’re going to find that you will be able to receive a variety of extras, and they include the following:

Advanced Situational Awareness – One of my favorite actors and martial artists is Jackie Chan. He always finds ways to defend himself, and fight others with anything that is around him. These are just things you see in movies, but when you purchase the Combat Fighter program, you’ll get access to Advanced Situational Awareness, which lets you figure out how things around you could be used to help defend yourself. Think of putting yourself in a Jackie Chan movie, and you’re him! You can use anything around, if you know where you are, what you’re doing, and use the tips found in this bonus.

Alpha Survival Guide – another great bonus, and the reason why I think Combat fighter is a unique self defense program, is found with this guide. This is a guide that goes into details about how to survive in case of a natural disaster, or dare I say, the zombie apocalypse! Yeah, this is a good read, and will help you get to a place of peace with what could happen, even if you don’t think anything will.

Alpha Nation Online Coaching Community For Combat Fighter - here is the next big thing that you are going to appreciate about Combat Fighter, and that’s the access you get for the online-coaching. That’s right, when you purchase Combat Fighter, you are going to get a full coaching section that will teach you how to fight, and how to learn to defend yourself fast. If you’re really interested in self defense, then this is the program for you, because you get full coaching online. That means that if you’re lost, or you aren’t sure what to do next, or how to utilize the moves or anything you may lack, the Combat Fighter coaching community is going to help you gain the upper hand in whatever you need.

Is Combat Fighter Worth Buying in 2020?

Ah yes, a new year, a new hope in whether or not you’re going to have to defend yourself. If you are looking to really learn how to fight, then you’ll have to check out Combat Fighter. I think it’s worth it, and honestly, it helps you learn how to defend yourself fast. I’ve used it since 2018, and I have progressed in many ways for fitness, wellness, and defense. Throw A Punch and Break Your Hand – How Not To Fight

I was recently watching a movie in which people were getting punched and knocked out. One of those movies was “Animal House”, and the other movie was “Go”. Two very different movies, two very different types of punches thrown, and it reminded me of something that self defense classes teach. If you’re going to learn how to fight, and you want to seriously not get injured, then you need to take time to understand how not to fight, as much as you will need to learn how to do so. I know, that sounds odd, but it’s true, if you follow the ways that many people throw punches, even at a professional level like a boxer, you’ll find that you can easily break your hand, knuckles, and even wrist. This is not a joke, there are many ways to learn self defense fast, but in the end, there’s also things that you need to know regarding how not to fight.

You Are Not In A Movie

Whether you want to adhere to this note or not, it’s up to you, but you’re not in a movie. No matter how big you are, no matter how much you know about fighting, you are not going to be the hero. Ok, there are some that have been in fights and won, but honestly, that’s not the goal of self defense. Self defense and learning how not to fight, is not so much that you will be a hero, but that you will be able to defend yourself and possibly others against violence. Now, in the movies, people get upset and throw wild punches, knocking someone out.

For instance, a classic moment that I recall was in the movie “Dirty Work”, where Artie Lange’s character throws a wild right hand and knocks out a guy, meanwhile Norm Macdonald’s character can’t do the same. You may also consider “Batman Forever”, in which The Riddler tries to knock someone out and hurts his hand, where as Two Face knocks a guy out with a single blow. This is a good illustration of what you need to consider when you’re learning how to throw punches, and of course how not to fight.

Do Not Hold Your Fist Too Tight

You see it in memes, you think about getting angry, and in the 1980s action movies, you may even see an actor do this, tighten their fists. You may want to tighten your fist, and swing for the fences, but that’s not going to help you gain any sort of victory. The reason why is because you are going to have a very stiff bone structure, and that force that you are going to use to hit someone or something with is going to reverberate into the bones and cause major damage. In regard to, how not to fight, you will need to keep in mind that your hand is made up of a lot of bones, and they are connected to the wrist, which is separated by may smaller bones and compartments.

If you try to fight, if you hit someone with a closed fist and it’s clenched, all the of force is going to isolate into the knuckles, fist, and the power you send could very well break your hand, knuckles, and fracture your wrist. That is why when you learn to really fight, and you take self defense classes, they teach you to use your palm, or lighten up your fist in a certain manner so that you are not striking straight forward with a closed, clenched fist. It’s just not worth risking an injury.

How To Learn To Throw a Real Punch

Safety is a major component of learning self defense. Whether you’re looking for lessons, or you use the links I recommend, learning how to punch someone or something is an important thing to learn. However, in your quest to gain proper knowledge, remember that you will need to know how not to fight, and that means not to rely on improper form or what you may “think” is the right manner of hitting someone. That may sound odd, but it’s true. The best way to learn is to throw away the preconceived notions you may have about fighting, and learn the proper way to defend yourself. Doing so will help you gain the upper hand in any situation, and will help you not break your hand when throwing a punch, guaranteed.

The following are options that can help you learn how to fight today. These are recommended by me, and help in a variety of ways.

3 Major Reasons You Cannot Be Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee by any name, Lee, Dragon, or anything you throw at him, is protected by legacy. That legacy is a premier element of marketing gold, but it also is cemented on the man’s discipline. There were many people that came along after Bruce Lee’s death that tried to make it seem like they were up to par with the Dragon. Truth be told? No one can be Bruce Lee, no one can match him in many ways, not even your favorite martial artists. Now, you may be telling yourself that you can learn self defense, and then start fighting your way into shape, and mirror Bruce Lee in ways, but you’ll fail to match what he has done and continues to do in the mind’s of millions of people. If you’re skeptical or you don’t want to adhere to the notion that you cannot be Bruce Lee, in terms of fighting style and more, consider these major reasons why the notion of learning self defense is NOT the same as becoming The Dragon or even like him.

Genetics Are Different

The first major reason is the genetic issue. Your genetics are not that of Bruce Lee’s, so even if you trained like him, ate like him, and tried to mirror his fighting style, you are not genetically like him. Genetics plays a role in all of us, and I for example, can never have the body that Lee or any other major fighter has or will have. I could get lean, I could work out, I could even use supplements, but my body and weight are still part of the genetics that come alongside with my family. That is not to say that you if you were to learn self defense, you wouldn’t be good, or you won’t succeed, but you won’t be Bruce Lee, that’s for sure.

Training Never Ends

When you decide to learn self defense, you will need to be pragmatic. You are not going to learn quickly, and then be an unstoppable force. Lee was not someone that just took a few classes at the YMCA and then went his way. He studied, practiced, and continued to train through the end of his life. There was no “end” to training, and focusing on the elements that are required to master the crafts of self defense and martial arts as a whole. Training never ends, don’t kid yourself. Even if you knew every move, you still have to be vigilant, alert, and train for the sake of learning, and guidance to your muscle memory.

There Could Only Be One

This major reason is another obvious one, but it doesn’t make it any less true. There could only be one Bruce Lee, there could only be one Dragon, and his legacy is larger than what you can create today. That is not to say you should not try, but in the word’s of Bruce Lee, remember, emulate no one, do not chase someone else’s style to try and mimic. Do you, focus on you, believe in yourself, and if you really want to learn self defense, then you can do that and greater. Just remember, you cannot be Bruce Lee.

3 Ways To Get Rid of Kung Fu Fatigue

Recently I was in a bar watching kung fu movies. They threw me out of that bar and told me never to come back, because I was being “creepy”. I learned that you cannot hit on women unless they first talk to you, and well, lesson learned. Before I was thrown out, however, I started to think about kung fu fatigue, and how many people get tired through training. As I was looking online for, kung fu lessons Indianapolis, I started to realize that there are a few things that come to mind when you learn any martial art, including kung fu.

What exactly is kung fu fatigue? It’s the same as anything else, where you get burned out on the training, the repetition, and more that comes with kung fu lessons Indianapolis. I know this all too well because my sister and I took tae kwon do, and after so much repetition it was boring to us, and we quit. I know, this sounds insane, but it happens, and it can happen to you in your journey to learn self defense overall. To stop that, let’s look at a few tips and tricks on how to get rid of kung fu fatigue today.

Practice At Home

The first thing that you need to do is simple, practice at home. Whether you’ve looked into kung fu lessons Indianapolis, or you are looking for something a bit more broad, you will need to practice what you learn at home. Not only that, you should look into stretching, exercising, and doing other things at home that are not necessarily related to martial arts. These things will help you diversify your routine, stretch your muscles a bit, and let your mind get clear of the constant repetition that comes with kung fu.

Meditate or Pray

Another great thing that you can do to diminish fatigue, or burn out for that matter, is to look into meditation. Meditate or pray, and spend at least 30 minutes a day doing this, every day. This is not a call to go with any deity, or religion, but rather tit’s a matter of focusing on the notion of letting go of the bigger elements that could drag down your mind. As far as fatigue in any case, you’ll find that clarity of mind helps a great deal.

Get Local Lessons

If you’re training in kung fu, or any martial art, and you’re doing it from home without a teacher, that’s ok. I advocate learning through various means, but if you’re tired of the same old lesson plan, etc, then it’s time to look into kung fu lessons Indianapolis, and seek out options that are near you. This will allow you to get up to date lessons, and will assist you with getting forward progress away from the fatigue that can set in from mundane tasks. It may also allow you to be more social, which is always a nice thing.

Self Defense Is More Than Martial Arts

Fighting Back With Self Defense
Everyone assumes that if you’re going to learn self defense, you’re going to be practicing some martial art. There’s nothing wrong with martial arts at all. However, you need to understand that self defense goes beyond the things that you see in movies, and the youtube videos that you may be watching on a regular basis. In fact, there are several elements to self defense that you should take into consideration before you jump into any form or style. The following will tell you exactly what you should consider before subscribing to anything related to defending yourself and others.

How Long Do You Intend To Learn?

The first thing that you need to take into consideration is how long you want to learn. Things like MMA or kung fu take time, and investment that is long. Many practitioners spend years learning things, and some of them are still not masters of the art. It’s a life long learning solution that can be mastered, taught, and explored, but even if you’re the best in the world, you will still need to learn things to improve your style, body, motion, and more. It’s for that reason that the most famous people in Martial Arts talk about life long learning protocol. Self defense can be a life long thing, or it could be something fast, and swift.

Why Do You Want To Learn?

For what reasons do you seek learning how to defend yourself? Do you want to defend yourself because you want to be safe? Do you live in a bad neighborhood? Or do you just want confidence whenever you’re outside of your home? No matter what the reasons are for learning self defense, you will want to take advantage of options that fit your needs. If you want to learn just because it’s a good thing, then by all means, chase that. You can do it!

Street Fighting and Unconventional Technique

The biggest thing that you need to remember about fighting, self defense, and all forms of martial arts is that it’s something that you can learn in an unorthodox manner. If you follow this blog, for instance, you will learn about some classes, programs, and ideas that can help you figure out how to fight, when to fight, and what to learn overall. You will be surprised by just how much is involved in fighting, and learning how to fight. Whether you want to make sure that you are defending yourself, or others, street fighting and other techniques are available for you to triumph with, if you want to go that route.

At the end of the day, self defense is more than martial arts. You don’t have to learn kung fu, and you don’t need to be the next Bruce Lee. You just need to have a few options and dive in. This blog recommends several options that can help you learn real world techniques for defense, and are meant to help you spring into action, when times get tough. They are not meant to make you an MMA fighter, though MMA training can assist. There’s a lot more to self defense than the preconceived notions you may already be hearing or trying to wrestle with.

The following are options that can help you learn how to fight today. These are recommended by me, and help in a variety of ways.

The Top 3 Reasons Why You Should Learn Kung Fu
Kung Fu Fighting For Self Defense Looks Great
One of the most popular ideas for learning how to fight is that of kung fu. The most searched for solution online is that of, learn kung fu. Think about that. Think about how many movies, and ideas are found within the push forward of this discipline. What people don’t realize is that this can mean a lot of different self defense styles. There’s not “one” solution that is ultimate in this arena. But this post is not about how many styles of kung fu there are. instead, you should know that there are some options that are advantageous to learn. In that regard, you’ll want to look into a few reasons why you may want to learn to fight, using the process of kung fu fighting for your personal development.

Losing Weight and Working Out With Kung Fu

The first major reason why you should learn kung fu is because it is an incredible workout. Gym routines are boring, and honestly, I hate them too. But when you start to learn the styles and methods that are featured in some of your favorite movies, you will work up a sweat that is second to none. From day one, you will have a lot of stamina that will grow in you, and that will cause your metabolic rate to rise. If you keep at it, with real world kung fu techniques, you will lose weight. If you are looking for a strong, frenetic, workout, then learning to fight with this solution is going to bring about great benefits. Why run on a treadmill, when you could learn to fight, and specifically master kung fu and get the same results?

Self Defense By Learning Kung Fu

Of course, the most important reason why you should look into the process of learning how to fight is that you can defend yourself. While the movies and different elements that you see online are meant for exhibition and entertainment, the practical aspects of kung fur are meant for self defense. As you look into the process of learning how to fight, you will be able to apply kung fu techniques to help you with coordination, confidence, and fighting. Whether you want to learn kung fu in one style or several styles, you’ll find that the kicks, punches, and joint elements can help you bring about great movement, and power.

A Life Long Journey

Even incredible martial artists like Bruce Lee, or Jackie Chan have stated that you don’t just learn kung fu and that’s it. Instead, it’s a life long process of learning how to move your body, and focus on the bigger picture of self defense. You will be able to learn how to stretch, how to move your body, and how to ensure that you can defend yourself and others with simplified fighting maneuvers. This is a soul searching, physical focus, that is quite lovely. It’s simply a great thing to learn, and something that can change your life.

At the end of the day, you’re going to find that there are far more reasons for learning kung fu of course. However, you could very well focus on the process of learning for life. You don’t have to aim to be the next Bruce Lee to enjoy the idea of learning how to defend yourself. If you are serious, and you want to learn kung fu, you can do it. You can do it without breaking the bank, and you can even do it on your own terms, and even online. It’s definitely advantageous.

5 Surprisingly Simple Self Defense Tips You Need Today

5 Surprisingly Simple Self Defense Tips You Need Today
5 Surprisingly Simple Self Defense Tips You Need Today
No one ever thinks that they are going to fight. I don’t ever want to fight, but one thing is true, if I do fight, I know enough to protect myself and others. Do you know what to do in case you are attacked in a hand to hand issue? What if someone tries to bother you at school, or work? What if you’re at the ATM? Well, here are 5 surprisingly simple things that can help you learn to fight, and help you stay safe just in case you have to deal with a bully or someone that wants to take you on.

Attack The Knee

If you are near an attacker, aim for their knee and make sure that you hit as hard as you can. It’s very difficult for someone to defend their knees, and if you kick or hit them hard enough in the knee, they are going to be hurt long enough for you to run. The goal is to protect yourself, and get out of harms way, and that can be done by hitting the knee. An attacker can’t run if they have a knee injury, and you can easily attack hard with the sole of your foot if need be.

Use Your Palm and Break a Nose While You Learn To Fight

Not sure how to fight? Not sure what to do, then open up your hand, and drive your palm into someone’s nose straight on. You don’t need a lot of force to do this, and everyone’s nose is sensitive to breaking because it’s not made of bone. Shove your palm with force upwards towards the face of someone, and if you break their nose, they won’t be able to see very well, they’ll be bleeding, and you can run, or call for help. From that point forward, even a feather is going to hurt if it touches that broken nose.

Know Where The Solar Plexus Is

I’m a big fan of professional wrestling. As you learn to fight, you will need to learn pressure points that can help you getting the upper hand against any number of attackers. Now, if you are in a fight, whether in the streets, or you are a teen on the school yard wanting to protect your neck against bullies, then you need not be a fan of pro wrestling for this one. You need to know where the solar plexus is. It’s right underneath the sternum, above the belly button, and before the abs start to form on a ripped person. Punch, kick, or strike someone in the solar plexus region and they will have the wind knocked out of them, straightway. You need to know where this is on a person, because even a swift punch with only half of your strength will knock the air out of someone. You can then run or call for help if you need to.

The Proper Headbutt Could Save Your Life

Another movement that I love in pro wrestling is the classic headbutt. Ever seen a Samoan deliver one of these? They knock out their opponents in some cases. Now, how can you learn the proper technique? Well, it’s not that hard. When you’re in front of someone, grab their collar or shirt, and then use your strength and momentum to drive the top of your head through their face, making sure that you’re looking at the ground. Now, it’s important that you pull them by the collar, push back, then move forward through the person like you were going to hit them with a football helmet. Your cranium will not only stun them, you’ll do serious damage. This is enough to get them to fall or at least run away if you need to. A well placed headbutt, with the top of your head will NOT knock you out, it will deliver a serious blow, if you do it correctly.

Steal Their Ears

One of the hardest parts to defend, and one of the things that NO bully or attacker is expecting is for their victim to grab their ears. Sure, you could slap someone in the ear, you can try to punch them in that area, or you could do something better, literally grab their ear and yank as hard as you can. If you pull their ear as hard as you can, you will be able to literally pull their head in any direction that you want, and will be able to call for help or subsequently land blows that are going to cause them to cry, or at least run off. Grab an ear and pull like you’re going to rip it off. Heck, if you do rip it off they are going to run in fear.

These are some simple tips that you can use to defend yourself. Of course, these are panic button ideas, and do not reflect the true nature of training with martial arts or any course of self defense. If you are looking to really learn to fight, and you want to gain confidence, lose weight, and much more, then take advantage of the programs and ideas linked within each of our posts. They will help you learn these techniques and much more to ensure that you are safe, and learn to fight with relative ease.

3 Reasons You Are Not Going To Become Bruce Lee

bruce lee fighting method
Learn To Fight - Bruce Lee Image From The Big Boss
Before getting started, I wanted to shout out a anti-smoking site for their work. If you’re currently a smoker, you will want to check out this option to quit smoking fast. Whether you’re learning self defense or not, you should click here, to quit smoking, and avoid getting caught up with the issue. You can easily quit, if you know how to get it done right, and well that’s a good resource. Click here for more information on quitting smoking etc.

Every time I talk to anyone about the blog that I write here, I’m told about Bruce Lee. I love Lee, don’t get me wrong. However, people think of self defense and they immediately think of Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan. That’s awesome. It’s amazing that Bruce Lee has such an amazing impact, but that doesn’t mean that the only elements of martial arts fall under the elements of Lee’s teaching. Now, don’t get me wrong, I do not mean to diminish the contributions of Bruce Lee in any way, but if you want to learn to fight, you will never become like or even be Bruce Lee. There are 3 reasons why, and you may want to argue with me, but it’s true.

Bruce Lee Lived, Breathed, and Thought About Martial Arts

Do you? You may think you do, but unless you’re getting up at 4 am every morning and hitting the gym, then doing martial arts practice, taking classes, teaching, reading, and writing, you probably won’t match the commitment to your body and sport quite like Bruce Lee. That doesn’t mean that you are not going to be able to do great things, and it doesn’t mean that you will not be able to learn from the master, but emulating him is not going to be easy, nor will it be possible for the average person.

Genetics Will Stop You

I learned this many times over in every sport I played. Even in martial arts, I have tried to be as fit as possible, strong, and yet I cannot match the prowess of Bruce Lee at any level. Sure, I can learn to fight, but looking and being as good as Lee? Not possible with my genetics. The problem with this notion is that you need to remember that you have limits overall. There are limits to what you can do, and you should know these limits. Genetics will stop you, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t keep trying to be your best. Your best is not to be the best example or iteration of Lee in any way. Be you!

Someone Is Always Closer

Look at action movies today, and you will find that there are a lot of great martial artists that are a lot closer to being as good if not as close to Bruce Lee as ever. You are not there. If you’re reading this, and you’re going to argue that you do have the same moves, the look, and the same style, then perhaps you are the exception. However, the grand majority of people are not going to be able to emulate Bruce and honestly, you can’t compete with some of the best in the world. I know, you are going to be sour about the notion, but it’s true. Someone is always closer, and that very well may mean you’re going to have to go far away in the line of people that are trying to be like the Dragon. You can learn to fight, but can you become the next Bruce Lee? Probably not.

This is said not to discourage you, mind you. However, you should be realistic about what you’re doing, and what you want to do overall. If you want to train like Bruce Lee, do it. If you want to learn Jeet Kune Do, then go for it. Just remember, you will not be Bruce Lee, you will be you. Be you! Be water! Be free! Learn your own style after you master another.

Is Street Fighting Legal?

Street Fighting - Is It Legal?
People often question whether or not street fighting is a legal thing to do. You could learn to fight, and never really know whether or not you’re within your rights to fight someone. Well, there are a few things that you should remember about fighting. The following can help you get a little bit of information about what to expect when you know how to fight, and how you can fight someone, even if it’s in the streets. If you want to know about street fighting, you can learn, but as far as the legal implications, here are a few notes.

Yes, It Is Legal To Street Fight

First and foremost, you are within your legal limits to street fight. If you learn to fight, yes, you can fight someone with your bare fists, kick them, and subdue them. However, this doesn’t mean that you can square up with someone that you just want to fight, and get paid or get into a club. This is not about “fight clubs”, or anything like that. The goal here is to learn to fight so that you can defend yourself. You are allowed self defense. That doesn’t mean that you should go and look for fights, do it for sport, or even kill someone with your bare hands.

Killing Someone In Self Defense

You can, in fact, kill someone by street fighting. It is for that reason that you should not run if you do this. If you are attacked, and you fight someone off, and they die, you need to call 911, and you need to speak to authorities. People are within their legal rights to defend themselves, unto the death. Do not fear that. Killing someone in self defense is justified, although you should be aware that your goal as a martial artist is NOT to use that kind of force. The goal is to defend yourself, and make sure that you are able to survive.

Do Not Show Off Street Fighting

Street fighting in self defense is legal. However, you should not go around showing off. You are not a child, you are not a celebrity that is getting photographed for your skills. Instead of letting people know what you know, just keep it to yourself, and save it for the dojo, training, and your own home gym. The less you show off, the more prepared you are going to be mentally. Just be aware of your surroundings, and be ready to strike at a moments notice. That will help you ensure that you are within your legal limits, and will not cause any disruption. Fighting someone is not impossible, and it is not illegal. You can learn to fight, and gain major momentum, but you need to first, remember to not show off.

Are you interested in learning self defense fast? Well, you could learn by visiting the recommend links, read reviews, and follow this blog for more information on how you can fight back and not be a victim today.

Using A Monkey Fist For Self Defense Is Legal

Monkey Fist Self Defense Tool - Image Source Wikipedia
There are a lot of different ways that you can defend yourself today. You are not limited to just using your hands, your feet, or any outside weapons. However, not everything that you come across in the spectrum of self defense is legal. For instance, you cannot just go around with brass knuckles in your pocket and expect to not get in trouble if you break someone’s jaw. The same can be said about a lot of the weapons and elements that you may find online, and through martial arts stores. That doesn’t mean that you can’t have anything to defend yourself, as you can utilize a variety of options, including what is known as a monkey fist to defend yourself. But before you start looking for, monkey fist self defense legal, you should know what this is, and how it can help you with defending yourself outright.

What Is A Monkey Fist?

The first thing that you should know is that a monkey fist is a knot that comes from nautical arenas. It is named as such because it looks like a balled up fist, similar to what a monkey would have if he was going to throw a punch. When you see it, you’ll be able to denote the similarities in how it looks. It is usually made of rope, and it is attached across a simple rope. If you were to look at one, it would simply look like a rope that has a small ball at the end of it. The self defense element of, monkey fist self defense legal, is that the ball at the end of the line is weighted with a small metal piece. That metal piece is weighted and is a ball that is no larger than a marble in most cases. While you can find monkey fists with billiard balls in them, the majority of people that are using these, will simply have a small solution, no bigger than 6 inches in length or so.

How To Use A Monkey Fist

The easiest way to use a monkey fist is to strike like you would a pair of nunchucks. You hold one end, the non-weighted solution, and you literally swing it to allow the ball to hit a target. Your momentum will carry the ball to the intended target, and it will sting like crazy. You can test it on yourself if you’d like, swinging it in a full fulcrum and then letting it hit your hand or body. However, when you go at this full strength, you will realize why so many are looking online for, monkey fist self defense legal.

Is Using A Monkey Fist For Self Defense Legal?

The short answer is, yes. These are often found as small options. However, if you have a large rope that is tied to a billiard ball, then you could face scrutiny from a police officer. Chances are, you are not going to be carrying around a large monkey fist wherever you’re going. However, they do make key chains, and other paracord solutions that you could purchase. These are not expensive self defense tools, and if you are truly looking to defend yourself, then you may want to look into how a simple looking keychain is meant to stop nefarious people from attacking. You don’t need to search for, monkey fist self defense legal, as it’s legal to use. It can save your life, and if you use it correctly, it could even break a brick! Either way, monkey fists are great tools for self defense, and perhaps one of the hidden gems of survival tools and more.

Picking The Right Self Defense Course With 3 Questions

Which Martial Art/Self Defense Course Should You Choose - Image source martialtribes.com
As you start to look into the right self defense course, and you start a quest to learn to fight, you may be tempted to pick a lot of different solutions. Just driving around town, you’re going to find a lot of dojos that you can get involved with. There’s nothing wrong with that, but what if you wanted to learn on your own time? What if you wanted to learn at home? Well, there’s a variety of different paths that you can take when it comes to picking the right self defense course, and with that in mind, let’s take a few moments to break down how to pick the right course of action for you to learn to fight without much difficulty. Of course, these are things that are meant to help you make an appropriate decision based on several factors, and does not mean that everyone that reads this will have the same results or the same options, so don’t take it the wrong way as you read through the solutions mentioned below.

How Much Do You Want To Move?

The first question you need to answer before you learn to fight, is how much do you want to move? Some martial arts and self defense courses are going to ask you to do a lot of moving. This includes kung fu, for instance. If you don’t want to move a lot, you may want to take that into consideration when you learn how to work with any self defense course. Some are going to be very difficult to manage, while others are not. Your experience level will most likely dictate which option is right for you, but remember, some options are more difficult than others. For instance, you’ll find that kickboxing, while a great way to defend yourself, may not be great to start with if you’re not a little fit. Obviously, you can go that route, but remember, that is going to prove to be quite difficult if you’re not already used to moving a bit.

Do You Want To Learn In A Classroom Setting?

One of the main things that you will need to decide is how you want to learn. If you’re more of a traditional learner, then you will want to look into a traditional classroom setting. There are many dojos that you can work with. You can always ask for a helping hand with a real teacher at the helm of what you’re doing, which is always a good thing. However, you are going to have to go to these locations, pay a subscription fee, and deal with a variety of other things that you will not have to deal with if you were at home. If you want to be with others, if you want to be social, then this is a great option to explore for you. However, if you don’t want to visit a location, and you want to learn on your own time, then you can always focus on an internet solution like those that I recommend on every single post.

What Is Your Budget?

Lastly, you need to take into consideration what your budget truly is. If you don’t have a lot of money to spend, then don’t go to a dojo and get lessons. Instead, make sure that you look into the low cost solutions that are offered on every post that you see on this site. We make it a bit easier to manage a process of figuring out what you want to do with learning how to fight, in any style you’d like. You may want to just learn to fight, and you don’t want to really become a lifetime martial artists. A martial artist’s life takes on learning a lot, and takes more than just a few plans of action. There are some that are still learning, mind you, and they have many black belts to show their work. Your budget will dictate which martial art you want to learn, and what plan you want to get into.

So Many Options That Teach You To Fight

Well, here is a simple plan. If you want to learn to fight, then make sure that you check out the links that I provide below. Each one has been investigated, reviewed, and tested by me, the author of this site. If you have a small budget, you can learn a lot with the options below, including getting fight manuals that are $1 or less! Yeah, I kid you not.

Winning A Street Fight In 3 Steps

Winning A Street Fight - Image Source Dailymotion
Unless you’re playing the literal game, “Street Fighter”, you probably don’t think about the art of fighting. Oddly, enough that’s another video game. You are not a street fighter. You already know this, but it begs for me to repeat it. If you want to learn to fight, you have a lot of options at your disposal. Just because you learn how to fight with the tips and tricks from this blog, and the recommended products we promote, you should still remember, that you may have to use your skills in the street. Just because you do that, doesn’t make you a street fighter. But even though you may not be a fighter in the streets, you may have to fight someone in the streets, and therefore you should focus on winning in the fewest steps possible. After looking at a variety of different options, I have come up with 3 steps that should help you win a street fight. Now, this is just stated as a recommendation, and does not mean that every single scenario possible, will help you win through these steps, but you should take into account, these are to help you think about self defense on a larger scale.

Be Alert and Ready To Defuse A Situation

This is something that is very important. You should know what you are surrounded by. This should help in you regard to what weapons you may need to use, where others are going to grab something, and what is around you. If you’re in a bar, think about the exits, think about closed quarters combat, and remember you can’t get ready to put yourself in a fighting stance. You will need to be ready to defuse the situation, so be absolutely alert.

Being alert and defusing a situation doesn’t mean that you should throw down and fight. You learn to fight, so that you are prepared for a last ditch effort. To diffuse a situation, talk. Just simply talk to the person and see if you can apologize, and just let it be over. Do not intend to fight, don’t put your hands up, don’t make it look like you are going to spring into a kung fu action movie. Use confidence, stand up straight, look a person in their eyes, and say you’re sorry if you did something to offend them. If they don’t want to talk, if they still want to take things outside or perhaps they get into a fighting stance, take a deep breath.

Walk Away If You Can

There is nothing wrong with walking away. You learn to fight, so that you don’t have to fight unless you absolutely have to. I know, you don’t like this idea, and you don’t want to look like a coward. However, you don’t want to inflict damage into someone that is belligerent or is going to be easily taken care of. You would rather be called a coward than to fight. Walking away, is not bad. Do not get prideful. You have the skills that they may not have, and it’s not going to be a fair fight. If you throw your hands up and start to really lay into someone, you could kill them, and while self defense is meant to help you, you don’t want to attack. You want to walk away. Walking away means everyone wins, and you are not going to be less of a man or a woman for doing so.

Defend Yourself In A Street Fight

If you have to, if you have tried to leave the situation, and you have tried to diffuse it, to no avail, make a lot of noise. Scream, be loud, and then put your weight into your training. If you’re going to punch someone, if you’re going to kick someone, or even throw a proper elbow, make sure that you do so with all of your weight to ensure that you are able to get away, or at least keep the person down until law enforcement can come to help. You may have to call the authorities, or you may have to at least ensure that the person is not going to attack you, or goes away. Your goal is to use your training to end a street fight as fast as possible. Again, you do not learn to fight, so that you can take on all comers, but rather to learn to diffuse chaos. Fight dirty if you have to, don’t be afraid of it, the person you are up against is not going to wait for you to get into stance, to bow and go that route. You will need to fight, and use your training, if any.

There you have it, 3 steps that should help you win a street fight. Just remember, if you’re going to fight someone in the streets, make sure that you have exhausted all other recourses. If that doesn’t work, and you have to fight, make it quick. Use your training, explode, and finish the job until law enforcement comes to assist, or the person runs away. Chances are, if you snap into someone with the art of street fighting, or any methods you have, you’ll get someone to run, in due time.

The following are options that can help you learn how to fight today. These are recommended by me, and help in a variety of ways.

4 Lies People Believe About Learning To Fight

Lies People Believe About Learning To Fight - Mistakes That are Made By Millions
Self defense is one of the most important things that you should look into at any age. Protecting yourself and others is a great thing. However, most people don't go into learning because they are believing a lot of lies. The lies that are believed are interesting in that they are common place amidst a lot of different factors. You may find yourself making excuses, and not sure how to get into the world of martial arts, defending yourself, and all other things. Whether you are thinking about street fighting, knife fighting, or any other type of defense mechanism, there are a few things that you need to know that are outright lies. These are the lies people believe about learning to fight today.

You Need A Weapon So You Can Learn To Fight

Bad guys are going to have knives, guns, and much more. That doesn't mean that you have to be armed. You can be, there are legal matters that allow you to be armed in many cities. However, you do not need a weapon to learn to fight, nor do you need one to ensure that you're fighting back against anyone. Another lie that comes within this framework is that you will not have time to draw your own weapon. To learn to fight back doesn't mean that you need a weapon, nor does it mean that you will not have time to draw one if you need it. The focus of your training should be two fold. You should learn how to use a weapon properly, if you want to go that route, practicing how to aim and use things properly. The other thing that you should know is simple, you need to know how to react when someone pulls a weapon on you. This will take time to master, but it's a primary concern amidst those that are looking at self defense courses of all types.

It's Going To Be A Fair Fight

This is an outright lie that you cannot believe. You should never believe that anyone, outside of a tournament for martial arts, will be fair. There are no fair fights when you are in the real world. That doesn't mean that you are going to be dealing with unfair fights everywhere you go, and you should just learn bare knuckle, street fighting. Instead, you need to have a mindset that focuses on the fact that a real fight is chaotic, and you are going to need to control that chaos with precision. The goal of learning how to fight, and figuring out self defense from any angle, is to control what others cannot. A fair fight is extremely rare. As you learn to fight, remember that, and keep in mind that you need to master the mindset of fighting, not just the moves that you need to follow through with.

They Are Going To Just Let You Do Your Martial Arts

The next lie is a simple one, and something that gets a lot of dojo trained students in trouble. The problem here is that people are going to assume that an attacker is going to wait for a proper martial arts stance. An attacker is not going to wait for you to get ready, to get into a stance, to do your kung fu, or any other martial art. You have to be able to explode at a moment's notice. This is something that takes time to master, so if you're a beginner, you are not going to be ready. Whether you have a weapon or not, you need to remember that an offender in any realm is not going to wait for you to do cool moves and impress him. Remember, a real fight, and real world attacks are not like Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee movies. It is very rare that you are going to meet someone nefarious that is going to put their hands up and start a martial arts stance to see who is better at any major discipline. If only it were true. Those are entertainment options, and do not reflect the nature of real self defense. When you learn to fight, remember, others are not going to wait for you to get ready or to get into a proper stance.

Knowing Martial Arts Means You Can Take On All Comers

Here is one of the biggest lies that you are going to need to shake off. Just because you master one area of martial arts, doesn't mean that you can take on anyone. There are going to be people that are crazy, will not fit into any mold, and will attack you in ways that you may not be ready for. It's with that in mind that you should not just learn self defense in one arena, and that's it. You should be fluid, like water, and start to learn various defense elements. As you learn to fight, make sure that you take your time to master all the basics, and know that self defense, martial arts, and any sort of fighting method is based on a lifetime of experience. That doesn't mean that you won't learn to fight fast, it just means that you shouldn't think that you can take on all comers with your knowledge. You should be humble enough to know that there are times and places where you can defend yourself and others, and other times when you need to stay back a little. You are not a robot, and when the time to defend appears, be ready, just don't assume you are going to be in an action movie as a result of your quest to learn to fight.

5 Mistakes To Avoid When Practicing Judo For Self Defense

Those that are looking at practicing Judo at home, or in a dojo, will no doubt be learning a great mechanism for self defense. You can learn to fight in this manner, but as you practice, you will want to avoid making simple mistakes. Judo beginners make mistakes, like anyone else, and while you can subscribe to a lot of programs, and think you're doing the right thing, you could be making simple mistakes. It's for that reason why the following has been compiled. These are 5 mistakes that you want to avoid when practicing Judo today. Whether you want to learn to fight, or you want to master Judo for any reason, avoiding the following mistakes is critical for your learning experience.

Over Using Your Strength Before You're Ready

As you learn Judo, you will be learning basic skills that can seem mundane in nature. It could be difficult to master many of the basics, but you may find leverage by using your strength. There's nothing wrong with overpowering an opponent, but you should make sure that you are not using your muscles to strain a throw or to balance yourself against an opponent. When you learn to fight, you have to learn the steps to master the basics. If you over exert yourself, trying to speed up the process, you can strain your muscles, back, and learn improper technique. Over use of your strength will cause your basic movements to stifle, and you will not learn the RIGHT way to do basic moves.

Keeping Your Muscles Tense To Avoid Being Thrown

No one wants to get thrown. No one wants to feel like they are being defeated. When you learn to fight, you do not want to feel the sting of someone hitting you in the face, or making you tap out from a submission. Keeping your muscles tense is a terrible thing. This is a major mistake. If you tense up when someone is trying to throw you, you're not going to be able to react properly, and learning how to use momentum in Judo to counter throws, and build leverage against your opponent will not be easy. You should never keep your muscles tense, but rather flow with the momentum, as it will cause you to learn, and avoid injury at the same time. Tense muscles will cause injury as you learn, so try to relax a little, and remember you're learning, you're not going to master Judo in one or two days. It takes time.

Looking At Your Opponent's Feet

You are going to be tempted to look at the feet of your opponent. This is not a good thing. If you are doing this, you are going to have a slight incline with your upper body. Your upper body will be pointed forward, even if you think you're not slightly forward, you will be inclined, and that will allow your opponent to easily take your momentum and flip you, throw you, and do their will against you. Do not stare at your opponent's feet, do not lean forward, learn to avoid what feels "right", because you're learning how to shift your focus as you learn to fight, and defend yourself.

Keeping Your Feet Too Close Together

Judo is a difficult thing to master, especially when you're starting out. As you learn to fight, remember to maintain your stance properly. You will have the tendency to put your feet close together, as it is going to let you move around a little easier. When you have your feet close together, as you learn, you will be moving faster, but that doesn't mean it's good. Yes, you should move fast, but when you're starting out, if you keep your feet together, you will be giving your opponent the freedom to throw you fast. When you are learning Judo, and other martial arts, you want to ensure that you can explode with any stance, but as you first start learning, you need to keep in mind that your feet will make or break your progress. When you are learning, keep your feet spread apart, and slowly improve your balance, do not rush it. Keeping your feet close may feel natural, but you will get toppled and thrown faster.

Staying In One Position Too Long

If you're on the offensive, you will need to focus on shifting your positions and movements often enough. You do not want to stay in one place, as that will cause you to end up dealing with a variety of issues. Your opponent, when in a tournament or just in a street fight will take note of your stance, and your position, and will topple you. They will cause you a disruption because your foot work is going to show them what you're thinking about. You should not stay in one position, or stay isolated to the same movements when you initially try to approach an opponent for a strike or a throw. Staying in one position is bad no matter what martial art you try to learn. This is not just a mistake in learning Judo, it's a mistake in any process you will find when trying to learn to fight.
