3 Things You Don’t Learn From Kung Fu Movies

kung fu corner blog

One of the most popular genres of cinema ever is that of the martial arts, or kung fu movie. These are adventure tales that have a lot of great moments in them, and are revered the world over. There’s some great lessons to be learned from the movies, but there’s also a slew of things that you will not learn. You may think that you can emulate what you see on screen and learn to defend yourself, but that’s not true. In fact, you’re going to find that there are a lot of things that you will not get from these films. If you have ever wondered what not to learn, take into consideration the follow notes on what you don’t learn from kung fu movies today.

Proper Technique

The first thing you don’t learn is the proper technique. The movies offer a glimpse into different styles of martial arts, but you have to remember it’s choregraphed. That means that it’s a lot like a dance, and not true self-defense. While you could use some of the moves in real life, you’ll find that they are not adequate in technique. Only by going to a school, or learning through proper training will you get the knowledge necessary to apply the proper movements to defend yourself.

One Kung Fu Style To Rule Them All

Another great thing that you’re going to find with kung fu cinema is that there’s challenges left and right. The challenges come from different styles of martial arts. One fighter says that their brand is better than the others, and so they fight, and figure out what is going to happen. You may think that this is what MMA is all about, but honestly it’s not the same thing at all. There is not “one” style that is going to be better than all others, as there is a great deal of diversity and discipline that comes with martial arts as a whole. Just because you win a fight, for instance, doesn’t mean that your fighting style is best over all others. Kung fu movies exaggerate this a great deal.

Peaceful Resolution

Focusing on movies that feature kung fu, peaceful resolutions are rare. That means that the characters do not simply talk things over in a diplomatic fashion. Instead, they fight through every conflict and violence ensues overall. The movies are meant to entertain, and not to offer a sense of resolution that is in a peaceful manner.

At the end of the day, there’s nothing wrong with movies and entertainment. However, it is important to understand that they are not training manuals for you to learn from. They are meant as mediums of fun and enjoyment, nothing more than that.

There are a lot of kung fu movies out there, but which ones are good? You can find out by visiting http://kungfu-corner.blogspot.com , and read reviews on martial arts cinema from the past and present. They are fun filled reviews that will help you decide which is your next binge watch.

School of self defense Indianapolis for women defense

There is a big misconception among the public regarding self-defense: Self-defense tactics and strategies for the general public are the same as self-defense for women. We do not mean to say that women are incapable. But what we are trying to say is that some of the techniques taught are more appropriate for men who defend themselves against men. There are differences between public self-defense and women's self-defense, which we will cover today. So what are the common causes between self-defense for the general public and self-defense for women? It is when the attack includes material gains for the aggressor, such as robbery and extortion.

The nature of attacks

First, the nature and purpose of attacks on women tended to be more sexual than attacks on men. Rarely, if any, do women engage in a one-on-one duel with a man. Should training be crucial for scenarios where an attacker attacks you in the form of a street fight? Not! It is the opposite of a battle between two men. The time two strong men fight, the goal tends to be vanity, displays of strength, and in some instances, revenge. The typical mentality is: "I am going to beat you to show you that I am better and stronger than you." As such, there is usually a one-sided challenge first. So there is a kind of confrontation. However, when the woman is sexually assaulted, the abuser has a goal that ends with penetration. Rape is about domination and not just hitting another man's daylight.

Attack type

Third, the most commonly used type of attacks will be slightly different. In male combat, punches to the face are known to be the most common type of attack, while in sexual assault, bear hugs and suffocation are used more frequently. The aggressor will also be more prone to regulate the woman's arms and other parts of the body. But, battles between men seem to be bloodier because they are more concerned with hitting them with punches and kicks. They are not meant to penetrate.

Attack distance

The distance of the attack involved in sexual assault is always close. That differs from other self-defense postures that can occur in all sorts of varieties. That means that the rapist rarely comes from the full perspective of the defender and begins to "attack" you in the natural sense of the word. Sexual predators are more likely to attack women in close quarters and similar to ambush. They will aim to bring you to the ground. That is why every woman must know how to defend himself on earth.

Conclusion

As you can see, three fears arise from understanding the nature of a woman's self-defense. Women must know how to fight on the ground and defend themselves in confined spaces, such as dealing with a bear hug and suffocation. If you want to learn to protect yourself in tight spaces and equip yourself with ground fighting techniques, especially for this female school of self-defense, Indianapolis will provide you with the best skills.

Kung Fu Versus Corona Virus – Learn Self Defense

You may not think about martial arts, self-defense, or anything like that when it comes to the current pandemic, but you may find that there is an interesting little bubble in which the two collide. That’s right, you could learn self defense fast, and thwart someone away that may be compromising your health or the health of others.

Corona virus is no joke, and while some people may think that martial arts can be somewhat hokey, let’s look at an interesting little story coming out of China.

A man tries to enter a Chinese city but is thwarted by police officers. The thing is, when you learn self defense fast, you don’t need guns or weapons sometimes. Instead, you just need to show off your moves, and in the case of this scene, that’s exactly what happened. I kid you not, the police officer in question does some kung fu moves right in front of the trespasser, and they run off.

Sometimes the best way to defend yourself is not to land any punches, or kicks, but rather to show that you know what you’re doing, and that is enough. When you learn self-defense, you are not just learning how to beat someone up in self-defense, instead, you’re learning how to intimidate immediately, and in most cases, you’ll win without even striking. Knowing is half the battle and showing that knowledge can take your confidence levels up, and into a new arena.

In the case of this Chinese trespasser, he avoided getting a beat down by a kung fu knowing individual without even getting hit. If you learn self-defense, you can do the same, show off skills and be ready for an attack, thwart actions of nefarious individuals, and much more. Don’t believe me? Just look at this video that showcases just exactly what I’m talking about. Coronavirus versus kung fu? Yep!

Kung Fu Nuns – Not A Joke

There are a lot of different people that practice self-defense, including the religious. You may be surprised to know that there are some religious individuals that not only practice their faith, they practice breaking bricks, fighting human suffering, and are stronger than the average person. Sounds interesting right? Well, let me tell you about a group of women that are being touted as Kung Fu Nuns.

That’s right, you read that correctly, Kung Fu Nuns!

Everyday, the Drukpa Order of Nepal practice kung fu, and empower themselves with training each and every day of their lives. They are not only committed to Buddhism, but they spend 3 hours a day training in the martial arts, and they do so with great passion. They not only practice self-defense, they teach it as well. They have self defense classes and have taught many women and girls how to defend themselves.

You read this correctly, there are Kung Fun Nuns out there, and they could kick some serious butt. If nuns can do it, what about you? Maybe it’s time to learn self-defense.
