Fighting Back Does Not Mean You Are Batman
Let me get this straight, before going too far. When you look into self defense, you are not going to become Batman. Your goal is not to be a vigilante in the streets, trying to fight anything that moves. That’s a bad idea. Your goal is to focus on something different. Your goal is to make sure that you learn to fight, and know how to defend yourself against a mugger, or anyone that could want to bring you harm. Now, not everyone is going to be learning how to fight like Brue Lee or anything like that. Learning how to defend yourself, means that you are going to need to know how to get someone to run from you. Now, if an attacker tries to steal your wallet or your purse, they’ll do so quickly, but if you fight back, they’ll run, because they have a short window of time to take what they want, or risk getting caught or beat up. Leaning to fight back doesn’t make you Batman, it helps you get peace of mind when you’re out in the streets, alone.
Not All Self Defense Is About Fighting
Did you know that self defense is not about fighting? This is not always about how hard you can hit someone. The goal is to find places that you can hit someone or move a certain way to get out of their direction. For instance, let’s say that you were to learn Judo. This is a type of martial arts that focuses on movement, and reactions. Someone comes to you, with motion, and you can pull them with their own momentum over onto the floor. A quick movement, and you could topple a large person and be on top of them hitting them in the face. Or you could simply topple them, hold them down and call the police. Or you could simply use their force to make them think twice about messing with you. No tall self defense is about fighting.
You Learn Self Defense In Your Home
When you discuss learning martial arts in a dojo, you’re going to have to pay a lot of money. People spend a lot of money learning the art form. There’s nothing wrong with a business that teaches students to fight. This is a good thing. But if you are on a budget, you can’t spend nearly as much as is required to get one on one teaching. Now, if you want to learn on your own, for whatever reason, and you don’t want to go to a dojo, then you’ll need to look into learning from home. You can learn self defense from home.
